Baseball: Lindbergh scores 19 in the first inning, wins; Hazen wins; Renton and Liberty lose

Hazen 10, Kennedy 2

Chase Gordon pitched a complete game and Derek Cline knocked in four RBI in Hazen’s 10-2 win against Kennedy Friday.

Gordon allowed a single earned run on four hits and three walks. He struck out three batters and improved to 2-0 on the season.

Cline went 2-2 at the plate for Hazen (3-3 overall, 3-2 league). Anthony Pina and Brenden Campbell each collected two hits.


Lindbergh 21, Tyee 6

Lindbergh scored 19 runs in the first inning on the way to a 21-6 victory against Tyee Friday.

Eagle outfielder Derrick Hwang hit a single, double and triple in the first inning alone. Hwang finished 3-3 with three runs and three RBI.

Greg Gasperetti collected five RBI, Travis Gundram and Tommy Kawamura each had four RBI.

Jordyn Perry pitched the complete game for Lindbergh (4-1, 4-1), allowing seven hits and striking out five.


Mount Si 5, Liberty 3

Liberty outhit Mount Si Friday, but couldn’t outscore the the Wildcats. Mount Si won 5-3.

Liberty (5-2, 4-1 KingCo 3A) scored in the top of the first inning and then brought the game to a 3-3 tie in the top of the third. But Mount Si added runs in the bottom of the third and fourth to earn the win.

Troy Colyer went 3-4 with two runs. Eric Peterson went 1-2 with two RBI and a home run.

Keegan Bennett pitched three innings, allowed four runs and took the loss.


Mount Rainier 17, Renton 0

Renton couldn’t keep up with Mount Rainier and fell 17-0 Friday.

The Indians (0-3, 0-3) trailed just 1-0 heading into the third, but the Rams scored 16 runs in the next three innings.

John Nobis took the loss for Renton.
