Baseball: Liberty loses in KingCo final, to play West Seattle for trip to state

Liberty went 2-1 in the KingCo tournament Friday and Saturday, and still has a chance to advance to state.

The Patriots (19-4) beat Sammamish 10-1 Friday in the first round and advanced to the tournament final against Bellevue. Liberty swept Bellevue in three games by a combined score of 22-10 during the regular season, but the Wolverines had Liberty’s number Saturday. Bellevue won 4-3.

Liberty beat Sammamish for a second time Saturday evening 6-1 in order to advance to a regional playoff against West Seattle for a chance to play in the state tournament.

Dan Eck and John McLeod earned wins on the mound in the tournament. Eric Peterson hit two homeruns, giving him a total of 12 on the season.
