An early look at some of Renton’s top returning track and field athletes, Part II

This is the second part in a series of articles about Renton’s top returning track talent in the Seamount. First was boys runners and hurdlers. This part is boys field events.

Boys throwers

Andrey Levkiv Hazen

Levkiv, a senior, was the favorite to win shot put at state for much of the season last year and he finished with in second place. His best distance of 57 feet, 3 inches is over six feet better than any other returning Seamount thrower.

Levkiv placed 12th at state in the discus. His best distance on the year for that event was 147’4, the league’s third-best returning distance.

Armin Basic Renton

The senior threw shot put at the state meet last year, where he placed 16th.

Basic placed second in both the shot put and discus at the Seamount meet. His best discus distance last year was 163’6. His top shot put throw was 50’11.75.

He has the best returning discus distance in the league and the second best shot put distance.

Basic also put up the league’s fourth-best javelin distance last year, at 144’9.

Zack Nielsen Lindbergh

Nielsen, a senior, had the league’s second best discus distance last year, at 156’7.

Nielsen placed 16th at state, but he only threw a distance of 117’6 at the meet. If he would have thrown his season-best, it would have been good for fifth place.

Nielsen placed fifth at the Seamount meet in shot put.
