August 30, 1942 – May 17, 2025

Longtime Renton resident, Vivian Griggs, passed away May 17th, 2025. She was 82. Born Vivian Lee Spangler on August 30, 1942 to Bert and Jean Spangler, she grew up in Enumclaw with her sister, Barbara Jean (Kennedy) and brother Vance. Her parents and siblings have preceded her in death. Vivian married Eldon Griggs on Christmas Eve 1964 and they were together until his death in 2006. They have one daughter, Shannon. Vivian worked at Maplewood Heights 1972-1982. She was the favorite “playground teacher” of hundreds of students. Later, she went to work for the City of Renton until she retired to go RVing. Vivian, Shannon, and grandchildren, Vivian Grace and Nikolas, traveled the US in her RV visiting national parks and historical sites. She is survived by daughter, Shannon Herron, grandchildren Vivian Grace and Nikolas Herron, and many nieces and nephews.
