Melloy Jay Larson

Melloy passed away in his sleep on October 2, 2014 at the age of 78. He was born in Valley City, North Dakota on December 24, 1935 to Melvin and Ida Larson.

Melloy graduated from College High School and received Bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State Teachers College. After 4 years in the Navy he went on to earn a Master’s Degree from North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota. He and his wife moved to Renton, Washington in 1961 where he worked as a software engineer for Boeing his entire career.

He married Gladys Schwanke in 1954 and together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage. Melloy is predeceased in death by his wife, Gladys who died in 2007. Melloy is survived by their four children, JoAnne MacKenzie (Jim), Bob Larson (Jeannine), Tom Larson (Shelly) and Barb Talney (Aaron). He had 8 grandchildren: Tyler, Kyle, Isaac, (Brittany Fugatt), Elizabeth, Autumn, Rachel, Lauren, and Danielle and one great-grand child: Aria. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis Peterson (Chuck).

Melloy was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed countless hours playing bridge at the senior center especially after his wife died. He enjoyed going to a number of activities with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Services will be held at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 1700 Edmonds Avenue N.E., Renton, WA, Saturday,October 11, 2014 at 11:00 A.M.
