Martha Christina Davidson Kingen

Known by many, loved by all. Our dear Martha passed on in her sleep on the 14th of January 2009. Martha was born in Renton on July 14,1922 went to Henry Ford Grade school and graduated from Renton High School in 1940. She met her lifetime sweetheart Bob (Robert) Kingen at age 15 and they were married in 1940. They had two children Gerry and Larry

who were raised in Renton as well.Martha was a modern day businesswoman back in the 40’s. She owned and operated many great restaurants throughout her career. She had a beautiful smile that many people grew to know and love as she graciously hosted them at one of her many legendary restaurants in the Renton and Bellevue area. Perhaps you will recall a burger and smile at the Airport Inn, Speedy Bob’s or Kingen’s Drive In, or maybe a fine steak at Kingen’s Restaurant near the Boeing Airport.

Martha was predeceased by her husband Bob in 1996 and recently her son Larry on November 22, 2008. Martha is survived by her son Gerry Kingen, wife Kathy and her granddaughter Kate Kingen.

We will celebrate Martha’s life at a memorial service at the Faull Stokes Mortuary in Renton on Friday January 23rd, 2009 at 11:00 am. Her burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial in Renton.

Remembrances in her honor can be made to the Renton Historical Society.
