Lester John Derringer
Lester John Derringer, 88, of Renton, WA, passed away at home on April 3, 2010. Lester was born on August 30, 1921 in Bismark, ND to Joseph and Barbara Derringer. He attended Bremerton High School and later joined the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Lester was a Rifleman and Scout in World War II and was in both combat theaters: Aluetan Islands and France/Germany. After serving his county, Lester worked in the construction industry and retired after 25 years. On May 9, 1948 Lester married the love of his life, Phyllis (Snyder) Derringer and together they raised 3 children. When he found some free time, Lester loved watching football and baseball, GO SEAHAWKS and MARINERS! He also enjoyed helping his children around their homes with ongoing improvement projects.Lester is survived by his son, David (Elizabeth) Derringer of Seattle, daughters, Kathleen (Mike) Collins of Maple Valley and Wendy (Glenn) Huson of Renton, grandchildren, Christopher (Amie) Collins, Molly Sosa, Sharon Derringer, John Derringer, Christy (Phil) Gibson, Heather Derringer and Ann-Jula Collins, and his great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Collins, Zackery Collins, Selia Sosa and Marissa Sosa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Derringer and his brother. Lester’s final resting place is Greenwood Memorial Park, 350 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056.
