June Betty Alberg Schultz

June was born June 21, 1921 in Bellingham, WA to Swedish immigrant. Parents, Hilda Elida Dahlquist Alberg and Nils Arvid Julius (Johansson) Alberg. She was younger than her life long friend and cherished brother Thomas Adrian Alberg. June with Thomas and cousin Ralph Renstrom grew up in thriving logging camps, at her fathers’ mills in Port Angeles, Joyce, Riley Shingle Mill & Railroad line, Noon and Bellingham, Washington. Raised in the Swedish traditions, she gained a basis of ethnic hard work, and a life long caring for others: Hilda, Aunt Nellie, Thelma, Leslie, Miriam, Roy and Thomas. Losing her loved father at 14, she began helping family and at age 15, June worked as one of 42 Hollywood cosmetic gals at Kress Department store with Miriam Twitchell Alberg, her future sister-in-law. June fell for handsome Roy B Schultz, (Schultz family of Snoqualmie) marrying 1940, and immediately became a proud World War II Navy wife, living & working for the War effort in New York City and Texas. They returned to Northwest and settled for next 64 years in Renton Highlands. June attended business school, and Bellingham Normal (WWU) becoming an expert bookkeeper working with Schultz Auto, Loyal Electric in Burien, American Dry Ice in Georgetown, and Seattle Investment Company in Seattle. In her 80’s, she returned to help SIC two Saturdays a month with her brother Thomas. Roy and Junes’ beloved Son, Michael, was born in Renton. He often traveled with his parents over next 60 years. Roy and June fished, traveled every spare moment as Leisure Times members, they trailered all 50 States except Hawaii. June was an active member of the Renton Eagles, singles bowling team until 2007 over 60 years, she volunteered at Childrens and Seniors Center. In 2008, June moved to Ballard with niece Kay and her children Jenny & Brent, traveling often to family Cherry Orchard. June loved Chocolate, raised famous roses and gave LOVE to one and all. Her favorite time was Christmas, when for her 90 years all the family came together to celebrate with a Smorgasborg. Her speciality, eagerly awaited each year her Swedish meatballs and Spritz. June passed away peacefully February 11, 2011, with family. She will be greatly missed. June is survived, cherished, and loved by her son, Michael R Shultz, his wife Jan Fonker Schultz, Thomas & Miriams’ Alberg five children, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grand-children; Renstorms: Diane, Eric, Ed & Arnie & Becky.
