The funeral service will be held on Monday August 1 at 11:00 am at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton for Edith (Edie) Mae Lawyer who passed away on July 17, Edie Mae was 77 years old. Edie Mae born April 16, 1934 was the daughter of Royal and Isabel, she was born in Renton and resided there most of her life. She was a graduate of Renton High in 1952 and was voted Miss Renton in 1954 by the Renton Chamber of Commerce. At a young age music became a true passion for Edie Mae; she participated in musical productions in high school and after and was a member of the Seattle Opera Company for nearly 19 years. She also sang at many events for family and friends. Edie Mae was a professional woman with many roles in the

administrative field throughout her working career. She was a member of the Kent and Tukwila BPW (Business and Professional Women) for most of her career. Edie Mae was a very dedicated member of the Renton community volunteering her time with many organizations including: The Renton Farmers Market, Renton School Program for Excellence in Education, Renton Senior Center and the Renton Lions. She was President of the Renton Mayor’s Council for Senior Citizens. She was President of Leisure Estates Homeowners Association in Renton and a Life Member of the Order of Eastern Stars. She sponsored and escorted the Washington Special Olympic athletics every year. Survivors include two daughters; Theresa Ross of Rhode Island and Suzanne Tandeski and her husband Terry of Arizona; four grandchildren Randy Ross and his wife Mary Beth, Jessica Ross, Keegan LaRue of Rhode Island and Danielle (Crawford) Roark and her husband Joshua of Washington, her soul mate for life Gene Gannon of Renton Washington and many, many dear friends. The family suggests that remembrances in Edie Mae’s name may be made to Washington Special Olympics or the Renton Lions for care of the Seniors.
