Motorists should have seen improvement in traffic flow this morning (Friday) at a key onramp from the Maple Valley Highway to southbound Interstate 405.

The state Department of Transportation opened all the onramp lanes, including the carpool lane, after completing electrical and drainage work that is part of the Stage 2 I-405 widening project.

The transportation department had received numerous calls and e-mails about the lane closures, which had caused traffic to back up on Sunset Boulevard and affect Northeast Third traffic up the hill.

The closure forced traffic to change lanes in a short distance to get to the one open lane of the onramp.
