Wonderland Estates is having a free pancake breakfast April 24 to celebrate its first-year of being preserved from development.

After a year-long battle of having their manufactured neighborhood under threat of development, the King County Housing Authority purchased the property.

The estates provide low-income housing for adults 55 and over.

The pancake breakfasts became a tradition among the residents as they battled the sale of the property they lease for their homes.

In addition to the breakfast, visitors can tour some of the neighborhood’s newest homes for sale.

The event starts at 9 a.m. and ends at about 2 p.m. at 14645 S.E. Renton-Maple Valley Road, Renton.
