For National Women Build Week, Habitat Seattle-King County hosted two events at Renton’s La Fortuna housing site.

The program recruits, educates and inspires women to build -and advocate for- simple, decent and affordable houses in their communities, May 2 to 10. Fourteen volunteers from the apprenticeship program ANEW worked on a nine-unit building at La Fortuna on May 6, including Sunday Dador and Lindsey Meyer, pictured. Dador is a Habitat homeowner and Meyer is an ANEW student.

The 41 townhomes at the Renton site are estimated for completion summer of 2016. Twenty-three homes have been completed there to date. National Women Build Week is a nationwide Habitat program, in partnership with Lowe’s that donated $2 million in support this year. Last Wednesday’s volunteers were from ANEW, a women’s apprenticeship program for the trades.
