Two candidate forums planned for 41st Legislative District

Two forums involving candidates in the 41st Legislative District, which includes part of Renton, are planned for October.

The Bellevue Downtown Association, in partnership with Sound Publishing Inc., will host a candidates forum on Oct. 13. That forum will also include candidates in the 48th Legislative District, which doesn’t include Renton.

The 41st District represents Bellevue, Mercer Island, Newcastle, West Issaquah and northeast Renton.

The event will be from 7-9:30 p.m. at Bellevue City Hall, 450 110th Ave. N.E.

The forum will feature 12 candidates, six each from the two districts, who are running in the Nov. 2 general election. The first hour-long session is for the 41st District candidates and the second hour is for the 48th District candidates.

Two panels comprised of editors and reporters from Sound Publishing’s Bellevue Reporter, Mercer Island Reporter, Kirkland Reporter and Redmond Reporter will pose questions and lead the discussion in each district session. Audience questions will be taken in each session.

Admission to the forum is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, and the BDA requests advance registration online at www.bellevuedowntown.org or by phone at 425-453-1223.

The 41st District forum includes Randy Gordon and Steve Litzow, running for Senate; Marcie Maxwell and Peter Dunbar, running for House Position 1, and Judy Clibborn and Stephen Strader, running for House Position 2.

The second forum is on Mercer Island the next day, Oct. 14, sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Mercer Island Reporter.

The forum will candidates from the 41st Legislative District, including Dunbar, Maxwell, Clibborn, Strader, Randy Gordon and Steve Litzow.

The evening begins with half-hour reception beginning at 7:30 p.m., followed by the forum, which lasts until 9:30 p.m.

The forum is at Islander Middle School, 8225 S.E. 272nd St., Mercer Island. Talk-show host Dave Ross is the moderator.
