A multiple-vehicle collision blocking the two right lanes of southbound Interstate 405 just south of State Route 181 (West Valley Highway) in Renton has been cleared, as of about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday.

The accident caused a backup approximately 6 miles.

Northbound State Route 167 was backed up approximately 3 1/2 miles from the interchange with I-405. The accident also caused backups on Grady Way and on Rainier Avenue.

The Washington state Department of Transportation Incident Response, the Washington State Patrol, fire and aid responded.

The accident occurred at about 9 a.m.
