Track and field: Renton boys take another invitational title, this time at Larry Eason

The Renton boys track team won the Larry Eason Invitational track and field meet April 18 at Veterans’ Memorial Stadium in Snohomish.

The Indians scored 48 points, edging second-place Puyallup by three points.

Here are the full results from the meet.

Lindbergh placed tenth at the meet, with 26 points. Liberty finished 27th, with 10 points.

Tevin Ponders placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles. Ponders was just 0.04 seconds behind the winner in the 300.

Renton’s 4X100 relay team of Marcus Clinton, Ronnielle Kelly-Battles, Robert Reeves III and Ponders finished second.

Senior Armin Basic placed fourth in the shot put and won the discus. Basic cleared the second-place thrower by nearly a foot in discus.

Kelly-Battles finished third in the long jump, with a distance of 21 feet, 7.75 inches. He also placed third in the triple jump.

It was the second invitational win for the Renton boys this season. The team also won the Arnie Young Invitational at Renton Stadium on April 4.

The Renton girls team placed 10th at the meet, with 27.5 points. Liberty finished 20th, with 20 points. Lindbergh scored five points and came in 33rd.
