A special three-day filing period for the Renton School Board District 4 position begins Wednesday.

The only candidate, Larry Crim, learned late last week in meeting with school district administrators that he lives two blocks outside the boundaries of District 4 on West Hill, he said Monday.

His children attended Campbell Hill, Dimmitt and Renton High.

The filing period begins at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and ends at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4. There are no filing fees for this position.

Candidates who wish to file during the filing period must complete a declaration of candidacy in person at King County Elections office, 919 S.W. Grady Way, Renton. The names of all candidates who file will appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.

Denise Eider, the incumbent School Board member, had withdrawn her candidacy for re-election, leaving Crim to run unopposed.

If no one files, the School Board would appoint someone to serve in the position until he or she could be placed on a future ballot, according to Randy Matheson, a district spokesman.
