Renton Reporter columnist Jaris English was presented with the 2016 Bravo Award from the Renton Municipal Arts Commission during Monday’s City Council meeting.
English received the award for her monthly arts column, her work with the Valley Community Players, Allied Arts of Renton, the Renton Arts Commission and her “lifelong contributions to making arts, culture and heritage a vital part of Renton.”
“We say ‘Bravo!’ from the Renton Arts Commission,” said Commission Member Paul Hebron.
Prior to the meeting, English was honored at a small reception at City Hall that was attended by city officials, members of the City Council, Arts Commission members, family, friends and several of the subjects of her columns in the Reporter.
English said she was “so honored” to receive the award and thanked all of the dedicated artists and created people also working Renton.
“This is just amazing,” she said.
