Marty Wine, the City of Renton’s assistant chief administrative officer, is  one of two finalists for the Tigard, Ore., city manager’s job.

The Tigard City Council will hold an executive session Tuesday night, then meet in open session to select a new manager.

The other finalist has a strong connection to Renton, too. Derek Todd was the assistant to Jay Covington, the city’s chief administrative officer, from 2000-2005. That job was similar to the one Wine holds but it had fewer responsibilities.

Most recently Todd was administrator of the Town of Frederick, Colo., for six years. Frederick has about 8,700 residents.

Wine has worked for Renton since 2006. Prior to that, she worked for Berk and Associates, a consulting firm in Seattle that’s often contracted to provide analysis of annexations and incorporations. She also was a budget analyst for the City of Bellevue and King County.

Wine and Todd emerged as the top finalists following interviews with six candidates from a field 87 candidates identified nationwide, according to press release from the City of Tigard. Tigard is near Portland; its population is about 47,600.
