Jewelry and fashion shows, chiropractors and organizers. This is just a sampling of the variety of vendors and activities who will appear at the Renton Women’s Show Friday and Saturday at the Spirit of Washington Event Center.

Renton Business and Professional Women is hosting the second annual event.

“We are pumped,” says Irene Roberts, Renton BPW president. “… Real tickled pink.”

About 50 vendors will sell their wares Friday and Saturday. The two days will also be filled with a variety of speakers and demonstrations.

Friday night Renton BPW is hosting a dinner and two auctions. Friday night’s speaker is Barbara Manrow, professor and chief flight attendant at Northwest Airlines, now Delta Airlines. She will speak about pay equity.

Proceeds from the weekend’s events benefit the Renton BPW Scholarship Program.

Roberts is hoping the weekend’s events will raise $10,000, enough for 20 scholarships. The scholarships will help women attend school or pay for Renton BPW membership.

Last year’s women’s show funded two $500 scholarships.

“This is what BPW is about,” says Roberts. “We put our money where our mouth is.”

Renton BPW meets the third Friday of each month at Tea Palace Asian Restaurant & Banquet, 2828 Sunset Lane N.E. The next meeting is May 15 at 11 a.m.-1:15 p.m. The cost is $15 for members and students and $20 for non-members.
