Renton, Tukwila fire crews aid Skyway Fire during Wednesday morning house fire

Crews were initially dispatched just after 5 a.m. to arrive in the 12200 block of 56 Place South to find a single story house fully involved in the front.

King County Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire) along with Tukwila and Renton firefighters battled a fully involved house fire early Wednesday morning.

Crews were initially dispatched just after 5 a.m. to arrive in the 12200 block of 56 Place South to find a single story house fully involved in the front. Skyway units made an initial attack on the fire while Renton firefighters cut holes to vent the fire which had already spread to a crawlspace.

A family member awoke to the smell of smoke and got his son out of the house before family took over the front of the house. They were unhurt and staying with family.

The fire was put out within 30 minutes and the King County Sheriff Fire Investigation Unit determined the cause to be unintentional; however a direct cause was not detected. Damage is estimated at $42,000.

More than 30 fire personnel responded to the call along with units from King County Medic One and Zone 3 Rehab.
