It’s time once again for the annual Return To Renton Car Show and Cruise In, scheduled for Sunday in downtown Renton.
This is the 22nd year for the event, which benefits Renton Police Department Youth Education programs, such as Leaxership Camp, Hoop Shoot, the summer lunch program and more.
In 1991, local classic car enthusiasts Ben and Nancy Remak saw a need for a local car show. They had a soft spot for youth, and organized a show that would benefit youth programs provided by the Renton Police Department.
The First Annual Return to Renton Car Show and Cruise-In was hosted at the Renton Holiday Inn, and was a resounding success.
With the support of local businesses, residents, and organizations such as the Renton Chamber of Commerce and the Piazza Renton Organization, the Return to Renton Car Show and Cruise-In has celebrated 22 successful years. Since its inception, the event has evolved to include trucks, motorcycles, vendors, entertainment and activities for children.
This year’s show is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 7 in downtown Renton. The event is feee and open to the public. Car registration is $20.
Drivers are reminded that most downtown streets will be closed for the event.
