Renton schools to add two days to year to make up for snow closure

The Renton School District will add two days on to the end of the school year to make up days last to last week's snowstorm and ice storm.

The Renton School District will add two days on to the end of the school year to make up days last to last week’s snowstorm and ice storm.

The district had one day already built into the school calendar to make up for a closure and will add two more days to make up the three days the district was closed due to the wintry weather.

The days will be added on June 20 and 21.

None of the school district buildings suffered damage due to the storm, which brought down trees and power lines in many areas. The district was able to avert any issues with its facilities because custodial and maintenance staff continued to enter the buildings during the closure to monitor the situation, according to district spokesman Randy Matheson.
