A Renton man was killed Friday afternoon by part of a tree that fell and killed him in Bellevue.

The man was working with a tree-cutting company that was cutting down a tree in the 4400 block of 144th Ave. SE. Police say a portion of the tree struck the victim on his head, killing him instantly.

Workers tried to help the man until medics arrived, according to police. Bellevue Fire Department medics tried to resuscitate the man, but he died at the scene.

Officials from the Department of Labor and Industries were on scene investigating the matter this afternoon.

Authorities have not notified the man’s family of his death.
