Renton City Council to take a stand Monday on KCLS annexation

The Renton City Council will hold a public meeting Monday night prior to deciding whether it will support or oppose annexing the City of Renton to the King County Library System.

The council meeting starts at 7 p.m. in council chambers, seventh floor, City Hall, 1055 S. Grady Way.

The annexation vote is set for Feb. 9.

Renton currently maintains its own library system.

The Renton Reporter is currently running a Special Report on the annexation issue. The first story explores how the library system has reached the point where it needs extensive upgrading. The second story looks at the cost of either remaining independent or annexing to the KCLS.
