97-year-old Renton woman killed in Benson accident

A 97-year-old Renton woman died of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning on the Benson Highway, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Marguerite M. Carruthers was taken by aid car to Harborview Medical Center, where she died in the early afternoon.

She was a passenger in a 1985 Toyota Camry southbound on the Benson Highway that was involved in a collision with a northbound 2004 Kia Sedona in a left-turn lane at about 11 a.m. Thursday at Southeast 200th Street, according to the State Patrol.

The driver of the Camry, an 82-year-old Renton woman, was injured and taken to Valley Medical Center for treatment, according to the State Patrol.

The driver of the Kia, a 59-year-old Kent woman, was treated and released at the scene.
