PSE offering free LED bulbs to Renton residents

According to the company, if every customer in Renton switched just one bulb to an LED, it would save more than 43 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, equivalent to the greenhouse gas emissions from 6,473 passenger vehicles driven for one year.

Puget Sound Energy is offering Renton residents the opportunity to receive a free LED lightbulb.

Through Saturday, Sept. 24, PSE is offering every residential customer in Renton a free LED bulb. Hundreds of residents have already taken advantage of this offer and the LED bulbs are starting to arrive in mailboxes.

According to the company, if every customer in Renton switched just one bulb to an LED, it would save more than 43 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, equivalent to the greenhouse gas emissions from 6,473 passenger vehicles driven for one year. This small change can make a big impact.

LED bulbs can also save money. Switching just the five most-used lights in your home — for instance, the lights in your living room, kitchen, and entryway, which are probably in use close to four hours a day — could save you around $44 a year on your electric bill.

LED lighting can also reduce electrical consumption by up to 90 percent over incandescent bulbs.

PSE offers dozens of different ways you can start saving today. From swapping out light bulbs or installing a smart thermostat, to recycling an old appliance or upgrading your home’s heating system, windows and insulation, there’s an instant discount, rebate or program for everyone and every home.

To get your free LED light bulb, visit PSE.com/freeLED and enter your PSE account number.
