The Seattle International Film Festival concludes its run in Renton today (Thursday) with films produced in New Zealand and Spain.

The Seattle International Film Festival concludes its run in Renton today (Thursday) with films produced in New Zealand and Spain.

This evening also features the free screening of the top three locally produced documentary short films about champions who have made a positive impact in their communities, part of the Brotherton Cadillac Buick GMC’s Community Champions.

The filmmaker whose short film received the most votes will be awarded the Brotherton Community Champions: Driving for Excellence Award and a prize package including the Write Brothers Screenplay Suite and a three-week course at TheFilmSchool.

The screening is at 5 p.m., followed by the two films, “Boy” and “Paper Birds.”

All screenings are at the IKEA Performing Arts Center at Renton High School, 400 S. Second St.

In “Boy” a Maori boy reunites with his wannabe-gangster father, with a nod to Michael Jackson and fantasy sequences. It shows at 6:30 p.m.

“Paper Birds” is the story of friendship among members of a traveling entertainment troupe in post-Civil War Spain. It shows at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets for the films are available online or at the IPAC box office before each showing.
