Police are investigating suspicious and apparently violent circumstances surrounding the death of a man in the 500 block of Shattuck Avenue South.

Police at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday responded to a call from a woman who was checking on a friend and discovered his front door ajar and a man inside, apparently deceased.

Police entered the apartment and discovered a male just inside the front door. The man was pronounced dead and showed signs of obvious violent trauma.

Detectives are investigating.

At this time, the victim’s identity is unknown.
