POLICE BLOTTER: Moms argue over Facebook postings

The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports and King County Sheriff incident reports.

Two neighbors got into a dispute over Facebook postings and became physical on Jan. 11.

Police responded to the dispute around 6:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Aberdeen Avenue Northeast.

Both women are 30-years-old and have children who attend the same school. The children weren’t getting along at school and one woman’s daughter decided to post the situation on Facebook without using names. The other mother became upset and took her son over to the woman’s house to confront her daughter. One woman claims the other tried to force her way into the home and grabbed and pushed the other woman’s face. The other woman claims she had the door slammed in her face, striking her nose.

Police could find no signs of damage to the door or visible injuries to either woman. Because of the conflicting reports and no witnesses, they were unable to determine probable cause for any crime.

Renton man victim of Ponzi scheme

A Renton man was the victim of what sheriff deputies think was a Ponzi scheme he reported on Jan. 12.

The man said he received a phone call in October from someone asking if he wanted to represent The Advance Media Group. The man said the company would use the man’s money for advertising and in return set up a website for him. He gave them access to take money from his ATM card and there were three charges to his card: Oct. 11 for $314; Oct. 19 for $750 and Jan. 4 for $2,250. They tried to access his card again on Jan. 11 but that was denied because it was without his permission.

The man has received no compensation and now cannot get ahold of anyone with the supposed company.

Men fight outside club, shot heard

Two men fought outside Freddie’s Club and a gunshot was heard around 1:30 a.m. Jan. 15.

Police were called to the Renton casino, 111 S. Third St., and told an intoxicated Renton man was asked to leave. Club security watched on video surveillance as the man approached the bus stop on South Third Street. There were three people at the bus stop and the man exchanged unknown words with another man at the stop. The other man, who police couldn’t identify, walked into the street and threw punches.

When they separated, the Renton man walked out of view of the camera and security said they heard one gun shot. Security told police the gunshot did not come from the unidentified man. He left in a silver, four-door Honda before police arrived.

When confronted by police, the Renton man denied firing a gun but said he was assaulted by an unknown male.

Police found no gun casings or handgun.

Teen arrested for punching mother

A 16-year-old teen was arrested for punching his 54-year-old mother because he didn’t want to get out of bed the morning of Jan. 12.

Police were called to the domestic altercation in the 11400 block of Southeast 185th Place around 9 a.m.

When they arrived they found the mother crying with a red mark on her left cheek. She said she had tried to get the boy up for school for 10 minutes and he had been disrespectful yelling at her. She finally decided to roll him over so he could face her and he punched her in the face.

He was arrested for investigation of fourth-degree assault.

Man’s home is burglarized

A Renton man’s home was burglarized Jan. 14 of more than $10,000 worth of items.

The 50-year-old man said when he returned home the night of Jan. 14 at about 11 p.m. to his residence in the 600 block of Stevens Avenue Northwest, he discovered that the house had been burglarized. He told police the house had been unoccupied between about 7 p.m. and 10:45 p.m.

The suspect or suspects had apparently cut a hole in a window near the window lock and reached through to unlock and open it.

A white gold Rolex Oyster man’s watch was taken, along with two flat screen televisions, a laptop computer, $300 and $300 Canadian currency.
