POLICE BLOTTER: Boeing employee victim of ID theft

From Renton Police Department reports

A Boeing employee in her 50s discovered a co-worker stole her identity about 11 years ago, when Boeing employees once used full Social Security numbers to clock in and out of work.

Police responded to a call Aug. 13 from the victim who had discovered the co-worker had opened an AT&T cell phone account in 2006 in her name.

In early 2009 the co-worker stopped paying the bills and the victim received a collections notice for $680.

When she asked for the billing address, she discovered it was the co-worker, who was living in Algona.

When they worked together, the co-worker made the comment that he could steal his co-workers identities easily, because he could get their numbers from their badges.
