Big crowds will descend on Forest Service offices this weekend – estimated some years at about 1,000 a day in Enumclaw, to get a permit to cut a Christmas tree on Forest Service land.

The public can buy permits to cut their Christmas trees in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest through Dec. 24.

Permits cost $10 each, one tree per permit, with a tree height limit of 12 feet. Trees taller than 12 feet require a special permit at a minimum price of $20.
