UPDATE: As of 3 p.m. Sunday, the suspect is still in surgery is in serious condition. The woman involved in the shooting is not under arrest and is not expected to face any charges.

One man was killed and the suspect injured in a shooting Sunday morning at an apartment complex in South Renton.

According to police, officers responded to the Plum Tree Park Apartments in the 200 block of Southwest 5th Place at around 6:30 a.m. for the sounds of a disturbance and gunshots.

Upon arrival they discovered the suspect, a male in his early 30’s, critically injured in the parking lot.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect went to one of the apartments and gained entry after trying to shoot the lock off of the front door. He shot and killed a man inside the apartment before a woman inside the apartment retrieved her own gun and shot and wounded the suspect.

Both the deceased and the woman are also in their early 30’s. It appears the suspect and apartment occupants knew one another.

The suspect is in critical condition at Harborview Medical center.
