North Highlands Garden ribbon cutting set for Thursday

This Thursday, residents in the North Highlands community and surrounding neighborhood will be celebrating the grand opening of the North Highlands Community Garden at a ribbon cutting ceremony.

This Thursday, residents in the North Highlands community and surrounding neighborhood will be celebrating the grand opening of the North Highlands Community Garden at a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The project was funded by a $10,000 grant by CVS Pharmacy and completed by several different volunteer groups including employees representing Symetra and The Boeing Company, Eagle Scout Kane Anderson, Sustainable Renton, Seattle Tilth, and students from Renton and Hazen high schools.

The City of Renton is also partnering with Renton Housing Authority and local non-profits to provide low cost classes on gardening, food preservation and healthy cooking classes.

The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. July 28 at the North Highlands Community Graden, 3000 NE 16th St.
