A bidder from Brazil, Ind., has won the right to apply for a retail license to sell liquor at the state liquor store on Renton Center Way with a bid of $270,100.
The liquor store near Fred Meyer is one of the top stores in sales in the state; last year its gross sales was nearly $10 million. The bid was roughly in the top 15 percent of all bids.
The winning bid was submitted by Kulbir Singh, one of 551 registered bidders who vied for the rights to apply for a spirits retail liquor license at the 167 state-run stores.
Totaled, bidders spent $588,800 for the right to buy a retail license at the three state stores in Renton.
The Washington State Liquor Control Board released the results of the auction Monday morning.
The individual bids totaled $30.75 million, with $23.7 million of that total bid on Friday, the last day of the auction.
The bid for the three state-owned liquor stores jumped dramatically on Friday. On Wednesday, the high bid on the downtown Renton store was $51,100.

• State store No. 158, $168,600, 14410 S.E. Petrovitsky Road, high bidder Raj Singh of Kent
