King County Metro is warning that transit service may be affected by wind and heavy rain predicted for the Puget Sound region during the next few days.
In a press release issued Thursday, Metro said it is not possible to predict in advance where road, power outage or other problems associated with wind and rain storms may occur. If roads are blocked or flooded, buses and other vehicles that use those roads may have to be temporarily rerouted.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to know in advance the duration of a storm related reroute.
Metro Transit advises riders in its service area to plan ahead for traveling safely at all times; be aware of local conditions and plan for possible delays.
While Metro utilizes all available resources to operate service as normally as possible during adverse conditions, there is the possibility that transit service could be delayed or disrupted as a result of traffic, weather, road, power or other conditions.
Metro suggests:
• Be aware of conditions in areas in which you are traveling.
• Listen to media, traffic or road reports, or follow applicable agencies on social media.
• Allow plenty of time for your trip; be prepared for longer travel times in the event of traffic or transit service delays.
• Visit Metro Online for complete transit information.
• During weekday peak commute hours, follow or visit Metro’s Eye on your Metro Commute blog for real time updates specific to transit service in Metro’s service area.
• Check Metro’s Service Advisories page to find out about known longer-term reroutes or major stop revisions due to planned construction or events.
• Check the online RSS feed for Transit Alerts that may have been sent for specific bus routes.
• Sign up for Transit Alerts for alternative routes you may use.
