Kennydale Lions White Cane Days are this weekend

The Kennydale Lions Club will distribute sight- and hearing-care information at the Safeway store, 4300 N.E. Fourth St., noon-6 p.m. today (Friday) and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.

The two-day Lions club event, called White Cane Days, is happening around the country this weekend.

The white cane used by blind people is thought to have been invented by a Lions member in 1930.

The Lions Club offers a variety of services to preserve sight and hearing, from free vision and screening tests, to free eye glasses for the needy and free surgical procedures.
