Renton’s first rooftop concert kicks off with an 80s theme

Concerts are a great summer event. Couple it with a view of Renton, as is happening for the first time this year, and it’s even better.

Renton Downtown Partnership and the city started the first summer concert series on the roof of the downtown Park and Ride, of all places. On July 11, the Seattle M80’s, a group performing hits from the ’80s, sang to a crowd on the roof of the downtown parking garage that included a beer and wine garden, popcorn and free entertainment. A few folks even wore their best ’80s fashion. The next concert in the series is at Piazza Park with Dana Osborn, 7-8 p.m., Thursday, July 18. Another rooftop performance is 7 – 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1 with a show by SWAY. More information is at rentondowntown.com.
