During the morning commute Wednesday, a collision on northbound Interstate 405 near Northeast 44th Street in Kennydale backed up traffic on the freeway for six miles, all the way to State Route 167, according to the Washington state Department of Transportation.

The two northbound lanes were completely reopened at about 7:20 a.m.

The accident happened at about 6:35 a.m. The center lane was cleared at about 7:10 a.m., leaving the left lane blocked.

The Washington State Patrol was at the scene.
