Laura Braile-Huss recently got a phone call that made her $5,000 richer. The Renton resident won the money just for registering for the $5K Sweepstakes with KOMO 4 and watching the TV show, “Wheel of Fortune.”

“It was fabulous,” Braile-Huss said of her win. “I consider myself a fairly lucky person.”

Braile-Huss got a knock on the door by 5K, Wheel’s silver-sparkled “spokeswedge,” who presented her with the $5,000 check.

A lifelong fan of “Wheel of Fortune,” Braile-Huss actually tried out for the show four times before, she said. She never made it but winning $5,000 courtesy of the $5K Sweepstakes provided her five minutes of fame, she said.

“I enter all of the “Wheel of Fortune” contests,” she said.

Braile-Huss, an executive assistant and import manager for a textile firm, plans on using the money to finish redoing her backyard.

“We’ll save the rest of the money until the economy starts to improve,” she said.
