The honeymoon ended abruptly when a couple got into a scuffle after their wedding reception Sept. 24.

The Renton couple were married three weeks prior in Cancun and the husband became intoxicated at a reception earlier in the evening.

The couple, along with about 20 other family members, got into a large limousine to go home. The husband reportedly made rude comments about his wife’s family and she threw a glass of wine on him.

The husband then grabbed the wife and her brother intervened. The two men tussled in the back of the limo until the driver pulled over and ordered everyone out.

Eventually everyone was transported home in the limo without further incident. The wife reported the incident to police and her husband was arrested for investigation of fourth-degree domestic violence assault.

Officers stop street fight

Police intervened before a street fight broke out in Renton on Sept. 24.

A witness called 911 to report two males were having a dispute, but they didn’t know the cause.

One male was in traffic and yelling at another male across the street to come downstairs and fight him.

Both of the males were 35-years-old and the incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Shattuck Avenue South.

As police arrived, one witness explained the situation to police and one officer overheard one of the males say he would return to the scene with a 9mm gun.

The man was arrested for investigation of harassment and transported to jail.

Car not stolen, it’s just misplaced

A Lynnwood woman reported her vehicle stolen only to discover she misplaced it under stress on Sept. 27.

The woman and her husband were visiting her mother-in-law at Valley Medical Center when she went to check on the car in the garage at 400 43rd Street.

She believed she parked on the third floor but discovered her vehicle was gone.

On Sept. 30, police found her vehicle in the same portion of the Valley Medical parking garage where the woman reported parking it, but one floor down.

Man receives suspicious stuff

A Renton man reported suspicious activity on Sept. 24 involving letters and pictures that he’s received.

The 44-year-old man told police that since 2010 he has been receiving letters and pictures of his plastic Santa statue that was reported stolen  some time ago.

On Sept. 16, the man returned home to find one of his financial statements opened and taped to the community mailbox. On Sept. 24 he found an anonymous letter addressed to him, stating that neighbors chipped in to help with a delinquent car payment. A penny was taped to the page. All the letters were written in a similar writing style with black marker.

The man felt the suspicious activity was racially motivated as past letters and photos came with derogatory comments about his race.

Family reports cop impersonator

A family reported that a Renton man had impersonated a cop on Sept. 11.

The man, who is a neighbor to the family that lives on Kennewick Place Northeast, said their son threw a rock that damaged the man’s vehicle.

The man came to the family’s house, pulled out a wallet badge and flashed it briefly. They said he claimed to be a cop and said that he didn’t want the son to get involved in the criminal justice system. Instead, he wanted the family to pay for damage to the vehicle rather than involve a police report.

The wife in the family was contacted by the man’s ex-wife, who knew about the incident and said that her former husband was impersonating a cop.

The man apparently has a badge and federal identification that allows him to carry a firearm on a plane when he is flying.

Police contacted the man who denied ever using the word cop, but said he identified himself as “law enforcement.”

He apologized for the incident.
