Going to be a scorcher | WEEKEND WEATHER

The National Weather Service is calling for clear skies and temperatures in the 90s all weekend long and have announced an excessive heat watch for the area through Sunday evening.

Careful out there this weekend, it could be a scorcher.

The National Weather Service is calling for clear skies and temperatures in the 90s all weekend long and have announced an excessive heat watch for the area through Sunday evening.

An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat-related illnesses are possible.

Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and in air-conditioned rooms if possible and to check in on relatives or neighbors who may be susceptible to the heat.

Today, Saturday, should be mostly clear with a high near 93, dropping into the mid-60s overnight.

Mostly sunny again Sunday with highs again in the lower 90s, dropping to the mid-60s overnight.

The pattern repeats through the week, with highs in the 90s expected to stick around until at least Wednesday.
