Four people were transported to local hospitals on Monday after a serious three-car collision on Rainier Avenue South during rush hour.
Firefighters from the Renton Fire Department and King County Fire District 20 were dispatched to the crash at Rainier Avenue South at 84th Avenue South at about 6:30 pm.
When they arrived they found two of the vehicles sitting next to each other and another approximately 200 feet away. All three had suffered serious damage with one of the vehicles losing the entire front end of the vehicle and with the engine laying 10 feet from the car.
The impact sent debris in all directions and even onto the roof of a nearby home. Fortunately, no one on the sidewalk or in homes was injured.
Two of the people in the cars had potentially life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital by King County Medic One. Two others were treated by firefighters and transported by ambulance. All were adults.
Medics and firefighters had all four patients en route to hospitals within 16 minutes.
The King County Sheriff’s office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
All lanes of Rainier Avenue South were closed for several hours.
