Expect traffic signal changes at South Third Street intersections this week

The changes are part of the city’s conversion of Wells and Williams avenues to two-way.

Drivers in downtown Renton can expect some traffic changes this week, as part of the Wells Avenue and Williams Avenue project converting the streets into two-ways.

City of Renton posted that starting Monday, June 8, stop patterns at South Third Avenue intersections of Wells Avenue South and Williams Avenue South will be converted to all-way stops with stop signs. These streets are still one way for now.

The old traffic signals will flash to alert drivers about the stop signs for about a week before being removed, according to the city. They will then be replaced in the future for two-way traffic signals.

The city also asks drivers to remember:

  • People walking have the right-of-way.
  • Yield to the right.
  • When turning left, you can only turn from the left-lane. When turning right, you can only turn from the right-lane.
