CROP Hunger Walk is set for May 7

Last year, the walk raised $31,653.33 to help end hunger.

For the 34th time, the Renton CROP Hunger Walk will kick off at 1:30 p.m. on May 7 and run until 4 p.m.

This year’s 10K walk, sponsored by REACH (Renton Ecumenical Association of Churches), will raise proceeds that will help hunger-fighting developments internationally and locally.

Seventy five percent of the proceeds go toward helping end hunger globally through Church World Services while 25 percent helps to end hunger locally.

This year, local organizations that will benefit include the Salvation Army Renton Rotary Food Bank, ARISE (Area of Renton Interfaith Shelter Endeavor), Margie Williams Helping Hands Food Bank, St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank and Center of Hope.

CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by religious groups, businesses, schools and others to raise funds to end hunger in the U.S. and around the world.

Last year, the Renton walk raised $31,653.33.

The walk goes along the Cedar River Trail from Liberty Park to Ron Regis Park and back. Registration will be open from 1 to 1:20 p.m. You can also register prior to May 7 online at www.crophungerwalk.org/rentonwa.
