Cold weather shelter open Tuesday night

Forecast shows dangerously low temperatures for Tuesday night.

The city of Renton and Renton Ecumenical Association of Churches (REACH) will keep the cold weather shelter open on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

The cold weather shelter is located at the Old Chamber building at 300 Rainier Avenue N. The shelter will open each day at 8 p.m. and close at 7 a.m., when all must vacate.

All are welcome. The cold weather shelter (CWS) is barrier free and available for single women and men, couples, and homeless families with children who are living on the streets or in vehicles. Separate sleeping spaces have been prepared for men, women, and families with children. The CWS will be operated by REACH staff from the greater Renton community.

All must register at the door. As with all shelters, rules for the health and safety of clients, staff and the broader community will apply. If you wish to bring a food donation, please drop it off after the shelter is open. Snacks (individually wrapped granola bars, trail mix, Sunchips, etc.) fruit like bananas and mandarin oranges; or individually wrapped breakfast pastries are needed. Sleeping bags of all sizes will also be accepted when the shelter is open.
