The City of Renton’s Municipal Court will participate in a statewide Debt Reduction and Relicensing Program through May 31.
In an effort to help citizens regain their driving licenses and reduce the debts owed to collection agencies for unpaid fines and fees, more than 100 courts in Washington state are participating in the Debt Reduction Program.
Designed to help those with outstanding traffic tickets and fines, the court and their collection agency AllianceOne Inc. have agreed to waive interest and half of the collection fees. The debt will also be removed from the debtor’s credit reports.
“We encourage people with outstanding court fines to take advantage of debt reduction month in this difficult financial time,” said Renton Municipal Court Judge Terry Jurado. “This program is designed to make it easier for citizens to pay outstanding citations and penalties by eliminating all accrued interest and reducing the collection fees so that they can remove their fines and regain their driving privileges.”
Payments for accounts in collections must be made to AllianceOne Inc. in person or by mail. Full payment is required to qualify for debt reduction. They may be contacted by phone at 1-800-456-8838. Accepted methods of payment include cash, checks, money orders, credit cards, Western Union and Moneygram. Mail-in payments must include the citation or case number to ensure proper credit, and must be sent to AllianceOne Inc., PO Box 2449, Gig Harbor, WA 98335. Walk-up payment service is provided by AllianceOne at the Tukwila Municipal Court, Seattle Municipal Court and AllianceOne offices in Gig Harbor at 6565 Kimball Drive, Suite 200.
Once tickets are paid in full and reported to the court, adjudication slips must be delivered to the Department of Licensing to clear a driving record and obtain a valid driver’s license.
