Apollo Elementary School Brownie Troop 40245 delivered 291 pounds of food to Salvation Army Renton Rotary Food Bank on July 27.

The non-perishable food items were collected in the Renton Highlands neighborhoods of Maureen Highlands, Windwood and Ellis Park. With the help of an older Girl Scout and three leaders, the nine 8-year-olds knocked on doors for two hours.

After delivering the food, the troop toured the food bank and the girls spent one hour helping volunteers to sort items.

The troop members conducted the food drive while earning their Citizen Near and Far Try-It badge this summer.
