Lee’s Martial Arts in Renton will again hold its “break-a-thon” at the IKEA Renton River Days, with proceeds going to the Communities in Schools of Renton.

Last year, the event, in which students at the martial-arts studio see how many bricks they can break, raised more than $6,000, said Erin Iverson, the mentor program manager for Communities in Schools of Renton.

The break-a-thon starts at noon today at the festival at Liberty Park. Part of the time, the students will break bricks on the stage.

Also, the agency will kick off its annual drive for schools supplies. “The demand was so huge last year,” Iverson said.

There also will be a donation box at Renton City Hall and the Renton Community Center after River Days.
