The body of a 62-year-old Renton man reported missing from his south Renton home Thursday afternoon was pulled from the Cedar River Friday afternoon.

Two Renton Police officers removed the body of Gerald “Jerry” Selden from the river near the Renton Senior Center after a passerby called 911 from the 100 block of Mill Avenue South just upriver at about 2:25 p.m., said Renton Police spokeswoman Terri Vickers.

A search and rescue team near Selden’s home on 126th Avenue Southeast was alerted and Selden’s family was notified.

Identification was made from a flier the Renton Police Department released Thursday when it asked for the public’s help in finding Selden.

According to police, his disappearance was a concern because of his health. He was described as disoriented before he disappeared.

The King County Medical Examiner was at the scene and will determine how Selden died.
