Barista harassed at work, forced to resign | Police Blotter

The following information was compiled based on City of Renton Police reports. A Renton woman was harassed by a customer, forced to quit her job and contacted the police on April 16. The 20-year-old woman worked at a coffee stand in Newcastle where she began receiving unwanted attention from a 28-year-old male customer in September 2011.

A Renton woman was harassed by a customer, forced to quit her job and contacted the police on April 16.

The 20-year-old woman worked at a coffee stand in Newcastle where she began receiving unwanted attention from a 28-year-old male customer in September 2011.

The woman has had to call the Newcastle Police Department in the past because of the man’s actions.

At one point, the man chased her into the coffee stand and the woman closed the door on his hand, breaking it.

Another time, the man tired to come into the stand through the door and the woman escaped through the drive-up window and ran to a nearby convenient store.

On this day, the man called her cell phone 11 times in 17 minutes.

Police went to the stand and arrested the man for investigation of phone harassment. He told police that there had been signs that he and the woman should be together.


$2,000 in items stolen

A Renton woman had more than $2,000 worth of personal items stolen from her while shopping at the grocery store on April 14.

The 52-year-old-woman was shopping at the downtown Safeway, 200 S. Third St., when she turned her back to her cart and turned around to find her purse gone.

Store surveillance video of the incident revealed a black man, age 40 to 50, 5-foot-11 to 6-feet tall and 180 pounds taking the woman’s purse from the cart and exiting the store.

A designer Coach bag, an iPhone, a healthcare card, personal checks and bank cards were stolen from the woman.


Renton couple harassed

A Kent woman harassed a Renton couple wielding a knife on April 14.

The Renton couple, who live in the 4000 block of Northeast 10th Street, called police to report an incident with the wife’s sister.

The 38-year-old Kent woman accused her sister’s husband of stealing her prescription drugs when he moved her car in the driveway.

The Kent woman left the party and returned with a knife yelling and accusing the man of stealing her Xanex.

The man’s wife called police and the woman left the residence in her car.

The husband said although the woman repeatedly stabbed the front door with a large butcher knife, she never pointed it in his direction and he didn’t fear for his safety.


Woman grabs teen’s  ‘gun’

A Renton woman wrestled a gun away from a teenager on April 16.

The 47-year-old woman, who lives in the 2100 block of Aberdeen Avenue Northeast, told police she was in her house around 5 p.m. when she saw a teen outside with what looked like a gun.

She watched him put the gun in his pants. The woman called the police and confronted him about the gun.

He told her it wasn’t real and refused to give it to her.

She grabbed the gun out of his pocket and he tried to get it back. In the tussle the 18-year-old man got scratched.

An officer arrived and drew his gun.

The officer ordered the man to the ground and had to place him there as he didn’t immediately follow orders.

The gun turned out to be a very realistic-looking air soft pistol.
